About A Modest Proposal

Who are we? We're a couple dozen college students at The University of Texas at Dallas (though we wish it was more than that). On the first of the month, eight months out of the year (four in fall, four in spring), 2500 copies of A Modest Proposal are set about campus in big red bins, just waiting to be picked up and loved.

Stories are due on the 15th, roughly two weeks ahead of that release; we spend a week(end) laying out pages and poring over proofs and corekting our atroshus spelning erorrs. Then the PDFs are sent off, printed, and delivered to us -- ream upon ream of recycled pulp and inky goodness.

This is version 1, programmed (almost) entirely in Waterview Park building 12 with an iMac G5 and three dozen cans of Coke. It is powered by PHP and a MySQL database, and is generously hosted by the University on its webservers.
